今晚，我的Reading Explorer Level 1春季班進(jìn)行了第五次直播授課。5個(gè)孩子非常認(rèn)真地學(xué)習(xí)了2.5個(gè)小時(shí)，我也很開心帶孩子們進(jìn)行了一次全球Top城市之旅。想到Foundation報(bào)班的寶媽們各種詢問(wèn)和猶豫，我想我該宣傳一下自己了。

The Mori Memorial Foundation has now released its annual Global Power City Index (GPCI). This ranks major global cities based on six significant criteria such as economy, research, and development, etc.

在吸引世界各地的人、資金和企業(yè)方面，一些城市顯然比其他城市表現(xiàn)更好。最新的“全球城市實(shí)力指數(shù)（ GlobalPower City Index ） ” 旨在解釋原因。

We often think of ‘magnetism’ （ 吸引力；魅力 ） as a human quality, as well as a physical phenomenon. Cities also have the power to draw people to them.

The  Global Power City Index  (GPCI) ranks the world’s most important cities according to their ‘magnetism’, that is, their perceived power to attract creative people and businesses from across the globe, and to“mobilize their assets” to boost economic, social and environmental development.

The Index, compiled by Japan’s  Mori MemorialFoundation’s Institute for Urban Strategies , analyzes the strengths and weaknesses of 42 global cities based on six criteria: economy; research and development; cultural interaction; livability; environment; and accessibility.

文章使用的是A.T.Kearney（科爾尼）的Global Power City Index (GCI) 。

Kearney  is a global  management consulting  firm with offices in more than 40 countries worldwide. Kearney has consistently earned top places among global management consulting firm rankings, such as Vault's Consulting 50 [2]  and Consulting magazine's"Best Firms to Work For."

四、文學(xué)常識(shí)

文章開頭引用了John Gunther （ 約翰 ·綱瑟）的名言。 

(August 30, 1901 – May 29, 1970) was an  American  journalist and author.

His success came primarily from a series of popular sociopolitical works, known as the "Inside" books(1936–1972), including the best-selling  Inside U.S.A.  in1947. However, he is now best known for his memoir  Death Be Not Proud , on the death of his teenage son, Johnny Gunther, from a  brain tumor .
