(高階)從閱讀輸入到寫作輸出 - 深度閱讀newberry 獲獎作品

過去的半年了,小朋友讀了100多本原版書,其中有七本newberry獲獎書目。都知道newberry 好,怎么才能充分利用呢?

有些書可以泛讀,有些書更合適精讀,比如newberry, 一年就選2本出來獲獎(一本medal 金獎,一本honor 銀獎),自然都是大師的經(jīng)典之作。

那么高階精讀怎么做,如何才能實現(xiàn)從輸入到輸出的目的呢?這一直是一個讓我不斷探索的話題。作為專業(yè)出身的媽媽,我大學的精讀課都是在查單詞,背英英釋義,讀課文,做練習中度過的。一直在想,除此這些傳統(tǒng)之外,有沒有其他的可以幫助小朋友深度閱讀呢?

最近看了娃的寫作課,覺得很有啟發(fā)。 

老師先拿一篇簡單的文章做示范,讓小朋友們了解三段式寫作

1/ what is the book about?

2/ which part do i like the most and why?

3/ what does the auther want to tell us? 

(題外話一下,三段式書評也是經(jīng)典書評格式,非常合適作為模板鞏固良好的書評寫作習慣。)

然后就可以選自己讀過的書寫書評了。小朋友這次選的是Numbe the Stars. 這本書她反復(fù)讀過數(shù)遍,對文中有些上下文甚至能背誦出來。

I want to share the highlights of the book Number The Stars. Number The Stars is a story about two girls named Annemarie and Ellen. They went to many places to avoid the Nasis soldiers (Ellen is Jewish) from taking Ellen away to concentration camp. But it wasn’t a piece of cake. They had many narrow escapes. Facing the danger of being caught, Ellen went to Sweden safely.

My favorite part of the book is when Annemarie’s mother told the soldier, “We are going to Gilleleje, visiting Uncle Henrick.” Stern and harsh, the soldier asked, “Are you visiting him for the New Year?(because it is near the Jewish New Year)” With confusion on her face, she said, “ The New Year? It’s only October.” From this, I can feel the smartness in Annemarie’s mother.

I think Lois, the author, wanted to tell us about life when the Nasis invaded Denmark. Lois also wanted to tell us that normal Danish people, like Annemarie and her family can be a hero. 

final draft 交上去,老師的comment回來了,贊揚的話過濾掉后,主要提了一點:you need details to support yourself. 

好,雖然老師已經(jīng)graded了,但是學無止境,let us finetune it.

One example is when the soldier came into Annemarie’s house at 4:00am(because Ellen is in Annemarie's house) and almost caught Ellen, because she was the only one with  dark hair among the children. Finally the soldier was convinced because Annemarie’s dad used Lisa’s baby picture, because she had dark hair when she was born. Another example is when three soldiers went into Uncle Henrick’s house because there was an unusual number of people gathered at his house. Annemarie’s mother explained that there was a “death”. Actually, there was no death. There were just clothes and blankets in the coffin for the jewish people when they were escaping to Sweden. The soldier thought it was strange that the coffin was closed tightly, instead of being opened. He was about to open it when Annemarie’s mother explained that the person died of typhus, and the doctor said that there might be a chance that the germs might still be there. Therefore, the soldier did not want to open it anymore. After that, they left the house. Facing the danger of being caught, Ellen went to Sweden safely.

I think Lois, the author, wanted to tell us about life when the Nasis invaded Denmark. Even though Denmark surrendered, Denmark was not defeated, and the people were courageous.  Lois also wanted to tell us that normal Danish people, like Annemarie and her family can be a hero. 

成功要素之一就是把良好的行為不斷不斷的重復(fù),直到成為習慣。對于高階的孩子來說,不能只滿足于這本書我讀過,我做過AR quiz,我通過了quiz,我查了背了單詞。讀完書后更應(yīng)該合上書目,想一下上面三個問題,長此以往,一定能實現(xiàn)輸入到輸出的成功轉(zhuǎn)化。

下一個小目標:a book review about "The Giver"
