Dear Erin Hunter

I hope you are doing well. Into the Wild was the first book that I read by you. It made a great impression on the third grade me, and later I finished all of the books in the Warriors series. However, after reading them, it made me have no time in reading more of your books.

Rusty once lived in a cozy barn with his kind owner who gave him a sweet home to live in and enough food for him to eat. One day, he saw a few deliberate wild cats outside the barn. They were the members of Thunderclan with the leader out patrolling. He was deeply affected by the way the wild cats lived and wanted to become one as well. However, with his type of physical fitness and knowledge, he was unworthy of becoming a clan member, but Rusty did not give up. He struggled on to prove himself to the powerful clan by showing his adept hunting skills. He also worked hard to learn the abilities that wild cats have that kitty pets don’t. After years of perseverance he finally got the trust of Thunderclan’s leader Bluestar, and started his life as a wild cat.

I loved to play tennis when I was in third grade, and I would train two times each week, and play with my friends in the weekends. I showed great talent in this sport and my coach and parents all approve that I start to train professionally. However, training professionally would require lots of time spent in tough exercises and I would have less time to do what I want to do. In the book, Rusty sacrificed his rather comfortable life at the barn, learned hard to master the ways of wild cats, and joined the clan, so I felt that if Rusty can do it as a cat, then I am able to leave my comfort zone and put efforts in my daily training.

I also had a bad habit of staying in bed for a long time and then getting up, and eating whatever I want. Later, I am able to get up early and run for a mile to improve my body fitness, before I eat a healthier breakfast with all the nutrients my body requires. Now I have pushed myself to run 3 miles and I am able to eat much more than before.  I didn't eat a small piece of cake and drink water only ever since. Matches are important parts of a tennis player. I took tennis matches every week, and sometimes I have to travel to another city to play the games. In the same time, I also got more focused on my studies, and pushed myself to score higher grades, and apply for honor math class and literature calss.

Even though I have great love towards the books you wrote, but I know reading a variety of books is beneficial. I am reading traditional literature, realistic fiction, poetry, biography, and that makes it hard for me to continue reading more of your books.

The book Into the Wild in the Warriors series made me be able to restart my life with a better start, and encouraged me in times when I wanted to quit. Although Warriors is a book for children smaller than my age, I will always love this set of fiction books no matter how old I am.

Sincerely, Wxxx
